For most companies, this is a relatively straightforward question. Volkswagen manufactures and sells automobiles. Volkswagen is a car company.

23 Skidoo is a media company. In our experience we are the sole pioneer exploring this revolutionary niche in the industry.

How is this possible?

In all honesty, 23 Skidoo is only taking advantage of a situation that changing technology has created. No longer is it necessary to build an entire company around one single specialized function like video production or graphic design. (We can call these ‘single focus’ companies.) Put another way, it is unnecessary to have an extremely large corporation like Disney in order to excel in every branch of media.

As the furious onslaught of technology brings more and more abilities to our civilization, it also orphans and in time destroys companies whose niche dissolves. In the coming century, we at 23 Skidoo see the niche for profitable single focus media companies fading. 23 Skidoo is an archetype for a new breed: a modern multi-focus media company.

On a practical level there are really two factors responsible for 23 Skidoo, only one of which has been mentioned so far. It could be said that while the convergence of media technology has made what we do possible, it is our designers who time and again bring the possible to fruition. A computer, like a piano or blank canvas is capable of greatness only when the artist in control has the flexibility and breadth of skill of a master. 23 Skidoo has assembled a group of professionals who are truly multidisciplinary specialists capable of realizing the full spectrum of media.

What is a media company?

An advertising agency produces advertising slogans and campaigns to promote their clients in print and in broadcast. A graphic design house is usually responsible for creative visual inspiration in a project. A multimedia company produces CDROM demos and presentations. A web authoring company creates websites and e-commerce solutions to promote their clients on the internet. And a production company captures and polishes audio and video to be used in radio, television, and distributed promotional tapes.

Several of these companies often attempt to work together to some extent to promote one client. A media company is a new animal capable of offering ALL of these services to its clients.
